Hello, my name is Nik Andrews, I am a photographer based in Wolverhampton of the West Midlands.
Now aged 53 I have had an interest in photography since the 1970s when i recieved my first camera, a Kodak 110 insamatic
The early years
In 1995 I went on a two year GNVQ level 3 advanced media production course at Walsall College of Arts, where I passed with distinctions.
This was of course back in the days of film photography and although i photographed as a hobbyist it was not until I purchased my first second-hand DSLR, a Canon 400D with a kit lens that I started to use photography as part of my business.
Since leaving school in 1981 I have been a mobile DJ providing entertainment for Weddings. birthdays etc.
With the advancements in technology, I added video to my disco set up and with the software I used I could also add photographs, with this in mind I started taking pictures of my audiences during the events and displaying them on the screen.
This was a big hit with my clients and I actually won more work because of this extra service I provided.
In 2014 I decided to gain a qualification in photography and went to the City of Wolverhampton College to take a City and Guilds level three in photography. Again I passed with distinctions, I was also now being asked to take on photographic jobs in my own right and so started to purchase better quality kit, newer camera bodies, lenses, strobes etc.
More recent times
in 2017 I enrolled on an HND photography course, again at COWC to further enhance my knowledge of the industry and its practices. This is a two-year course with the option of taking a third year to convert my HND into a degree.
I am now a reasonably successful photographer with quite a few photography assignments under my belt and own some very high-quality equipment. Click here to see a list of some of the kit that I own.
